An appropriate waste deposition and landfill gas utilisation is a preliminary step for comprehensive measures for recycling and recovery of the single waste fractions. Revenues from the landfill power generation often are the basis for further steps of recycling and energy recovery. The choice of a suitable system plays an important role but this depends on the kind of the waste fractions and also from the legal requirements. The "zero waste" project is not a project of future because there are some processing strategies which can be used after a proper waste sorting.
